As a healthcare marketer, you may use a customer data platform (CDP) and data management platform (DMP) to manage your data. And while both are important tools, they have distinctive differences in collection, processing, and storing.
Consumer Data Platforms vs. Data Management Platforms
Consumer Data Platforms, or CDPs, gather, organize, and dispense first-party data. That means your organization has collected this information through opt-ins or email form submissions. First-party data is relevant, unique, and more likely to be accurate.
In contrast, Data Management Platforms, or DMPs, work primarily with third-party data, which comes from sources that do not have a direct connection with a business. While third-party data can be great for connecting with previously unknown audiences, your team must comply with CCPA and CPRA guidelines.
